Surveyor Thomson 2017 PINOT NOIR
World of Wine – Summer edition
Domaine Thomson ‘Surveyor Thomson’ Single Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir 2017. 94 Points (Cameron Douglas MS)
Complex, savoury and distinctive with a bouquet filled with scents of Otago and variety, soil and ripe fruit. Cherry, raspberry and plum, dried herb, wild thyme and spices of oak. A core of fruit on the palate is accentuated with acidity, the barrel spices and Otago thyme flavours accentuated by tannins. Youthful, complex and lengthy on the palate with flavours that reflect a time and place, variety and excellent vintage. Best drinking from 2022 through 2029.
Wine Orbit – 95 Points / 5 Stars
It’s delightfully fruited and elegantly complex on the nose showing dark cherry, dried herb, cured meat and roasted nut aromas, followed by a beautifully rounded palate offering sweet berry flavours together with rich spicy/savoury nuances, finishing long and stylish.

Behind the bottle
It was a great growing season enhanced through our organic and biodynamic practices and Dean Shaw managed to capture the elegance and power from that special year.
Tasting notes: Wild blackberry vipers buglouss, spice and a wetstone minerality on the nose leads to a warmly derived textural palate showing red fruit, persistence, depth and elegance.
