Behind the bottle
A 20% whole bunch component was used and the wine split into two ferments, stainless steel and oak, then blended to create a richly textured and mouth-watering wine, showing minerality, finesse and a dry lingering finish. Limited production.
2019 Vintage – A long warm autumn with hot dry days and cool nights allowed an extended ripening of fruit still holding good acidity.
Vines and Place – The fruit was hand harvested on the 11th and 12th April from The Moon Block, 295m above sea level, nestled below the Pisa Range, of the Surveyor Thomson Vineyard in the Cromwell Basin. The 19-year-old vines are organically grown on the VSP trellis style in high mineral, glacial moraine soils.
