It’s the first day of the Year of the Ox! We wish all of you a happy, healthy and prosperous year! Without exaggeration, I think most people in today’s world are hoping this year will be a better one than last year….
Here in Hong Kong, celebrations are a bit muted, however people are still celebrating and looking forward to the year of the Ox.
On New Year’s Eve, we had a special dish called Poon Choi which originates from the New Territories, Hong Kong. A one pot dish with many Lunar New Year specialities in it, including the black seaweed for good luck, this dish dates back hundreds of years to the 12th century. Family and friends share this dish for new year celebrations, it’s very tasty!
