Burgundy Collection
Bourgogne Blanc 2020, Chardonnay
With only 195 bottles remaining, the final release of the 2020 vintage is reserved exclusively for our MWS and Le Cru Club members.
In the Côte de Beaune, La Rochepot is known for its castle, the Château de la Rochepot. The primary cultivated grape varieties are pinot noir and chardonnay. Our parcel is planted in 100% chardonnay and overlooks the famous vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet.
This wine is made predominantly from a parcel of old vines (planted in 1965) which the owners of Domaine Thomson acquired in 2018. The name of the climat is evocative; it means “the abalone above Saint-Aubin,” possibly a reference to fossils found in the marly soils of the region.
Crafted for Domaine Thomson by Armand Heitz of Domaine Armand Heitz, a talented young winemaker based in the Côte d’Or, Burgundy. Armand is a good friend of the owners of Domaine Thomson and a proud representative of his family’s long winemaking legacy, with vineyards in Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and Chassagne-Montrachet.
Armand’s philosophy mirrors our own: farming sustainably, working with natural yeast fermentations, minimal intervention, and aging the wines in French oak barrels to allow the terroir and vintage to speak clearly. His wines are highly regarded by critics and sought after by sommeliers and collectors who value precision and authenticity.
A small quantity of wine from other Côte d’Or vineyards owned by the Heitz family is blended into this wine, enhancing its character. Predominantly Chardonnay with small amounts of Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, all hand-picked from old vines, the wine was matured for 8 months in barrel.
Luscious, layered and complex. Bourgogne Blanc “La Rochepot” Chardonnay 2020

Behind the bottle
A marvellous Chardonnay from the La Rochepot parcel (0.76ha) in the Côte de Beaune with expressive aromas of ripe apple, white flowers and a hint of spice. Driven by contained acidity and long, seamless and fresh.
